Trinity Leeds pioneers new national initiative from Landsec

Trinity Leeds is pioneering a national retail initiative which will support local businesses looking to break into retail with their first store – with spaces available from just one day up to three years. 

The shopping centre’s parent company, Landsec, is launching four new leasing packages in Leeds city centre – Platform, Platform+, Home and Spotlight – which will be rolled out to other centres this year.  

Independent businesses Curated Makers and Kick Game have already had a successful pilot trial with the Platform concept at Trinity Leeds, which is designed with smaller retailers at its heart. 

The new concept aims to support independent retailers and offer established brands a different kind of space, whilst offering a more varied and diverse shopping experience for visitors. 

Megan Jones, founder at Curated Makers, said: “The Platform package has been a real game-changer for Curated Makers. It’s given us both flexibility and prime space in a busy, central location – a luxury many independents don’t get to enjoy this early on. What we offer is so different to what others bring to Trinity Leeds – we’re completely novel and are attracting new visitors, which means everyone is able to benefit.

 “We’ve already extended our lease and have been able to grow our partnership with Trinity Leeds as we grow as a business. Not only have we been able to build the Curated Makers brand, we’ve also been able to expand the exposure of 100 northern artists we represent in our store. We can’t wait to see where we go next.” 

David Maddison, centre director at Trinity Leeds, said: “The industry has seen huge changes in recent years and retailers are coming to us with different requirements when looking at prospective stores and locations. 

“Many smaller local businesses start out online, and a traditional, one-size-fits-all approach is no longer fit for purpose. This new concept offers something for brands of all shapes and sizes, from independents and online-only brands to bigger names and everything inbetween. 

“We’re excited to build on the success we’ve seen from Curated Makers and Kick Game, supporting even more independent brands and offering sought-after retail space in a prime location in the city centre.” 

The new offering includes four new packages: 

  • Platform offers agile serviced spaces, ready for a quick bespoke fit out, available on 3-18-month lease terms. 
  • Platform+ offers serviced short-term, fully furnished, ‘plug & play’ brand activation spaces. Lease terms are highly flexible, ranging from two days to three months. 
  • Home offers premium space for more established brands, ready for a bespoke fit out, in the most compelling destinations. Available on 18 month+ lease terms. 
  • Spotlight offers highly flexible activation space in the common domain. Lease terms range from one day to three years.
