Lights! Camera! Action! Cloud Nine creates photo studio in Harrogate HQ

Global hair and beauty brand, Cloud Nine, has opened a new content studio within its Harrogate headquarters, as it brings all its previously outsourced photo and video shoots in-house.

The firm has created two bespoke studios for different filming sessions, and a ‘green room’, complete with mini bar and deep green upholstery, within its Hornbeam Park offices. In addition, it will help develop the creative, commercial and media skills of its team.

Studio One has been designed for campaign shots with big backdrops, which can be swapped around at different times of the year. Its large sliding doors give the Cloud Nine team the freedom to bring in larger backdrops and sets to develop campaigns and reactive content.

Studio Two allows Cloud Nine to capture “organic” content, which features a ‘cosy corner’ featuring an armchair, rugs and wall panels, from which to give the impression the tutorial is being shot from the comfort of ‘someone’s home’.

The hair and skin stylist area has mirrors and lights, with all the products and tools being in easy reach. The studio also benefits from different coloured walls to suit models with different skin tones.

The Green Room, which is complemented by neon lights, is where the models and guests can relax before and after each shoot.

CEO Martin Rae, who launched the business with his brother, Gavin, in 2009, said: “We have created our own studios for two very good reasons.

“The first is we have a fantastically talented team based within our Harrogate headquarters, who are eager to create their own campaigns, from inception through to execution.

“And secondly, harnessing the artistic skills of our own people makes perfect business sense, and will benefit us commercially.

“It will also help develop the individual skills of the team further and give them a real sense of pride as future campaigns will be their own original work.”
