A Leeds bartender has finished fourth in a global cocktail-making competition after wowing judges with her entry influenced from a year of living and studying in Shanghai.
Anna Price, who works at Call Lane’s The Maven, pitted her wits against competitors from 42 other countries in the Monin Cup, held in Bourges, France.
The theme of this year’s competition was ‘sharing memorable moments’, and Anna’s cocktail, ‘Tianshan Market’, was made from Baijiu - a colourless Chinese spirit- jasmine & lychee syrup, acid adjusted Lapsang Souchong tea, which was served in a traditional Chinese tea set with accompaniments and traditional Chinese music.
Anna, who studied Russian and Chinese at Leeds University and is currently training to be a teacher, said: “It was a remarkable experience to be able to join the global finals. What an exciting competition to be part of, and I am very honoured to have come as far I did in the competition.”
Drinks development manager at Escapism Bar Group, Calum Anderson, said: “The full team are all tremendously proud of Anna. To be a finalist in such a large global competition is an incredible achievement. It is testament to Anna’s dedication and creativity.”
